"Я БЫСТРО СРЫВАЛСЯ"
.
Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 96
.

Check bloominash's Instagram I've been dabbling with nutrition and fitness like I dabbled with sobriety back before I quit for good: half-heartedly, while expecting immediate results. That's not working out too well for me.⠀
.⠀
SO. I'm going to be tracking my food, exercise, and notes. That's it. The good, bad, and ugly, but hopefully mostly good. No major goals yet, just tracking data and hoping that the act of writing everything down will help me make better choices.⠀
.⠀
I'm going to use the hashtag #imbloominhealthy for those posts. I know I'm not British but it works, right? ha. Day 1 starts Nov 20th, and it would be great to do this with others who want to get healthier before the new year, too.⠀
.⠀
For everybody who wants to join, we'll post one photo per evening of our food/exercise data for that day. Mine will likely be handwritten, but we'll see. I'll probably go more into it in my IG story each day that I can, too. No pressure to get all crazy with it, but if you participate, use the hashtag and/or tag me so we can support each other!⠀
.⠀
I just can't wait for motivation to catch up to me anymore. I'm not getting any younger, ya know? :P ⠀

Check united_recovery's Instagram Gerard says his blackout drinking destroyed his career ambitions to become a lawyer in his twenties.⠀
He quit drinking and got his life back together just in time to become an internationally known actor.⠀
He says, “I used to drink until I couldn’t remember anything. I was just mad for it and on a death wish. It was madness.”⠀
Unemployed, Butler (who had no acting training) quit drinking and moved to London where he reunited with an old girlfriend who was a casting director. She scored him his first role in a play at the age of 27, and his career took off from there.

NOTHING'S GONNA STOP ME FROM DOING WHAT I DO BEST. HIP HOP IS MY LIFE. GOD HAS REMOVED ME FROM THE DEVILS PLAYGROUND AND SHOWED ME THE LIGHT. I AM SORROUNDED AROUND NOTHING BUT LOVE, FRIENDSHIPS, AND FAMILY. GOD HAS SHOWED ME HOW TO IDENTIFY THE TRUTH FROM THE FALSE, TO WORK HARD AND NOT BE A B.U.M, TO BE THERE FOR MY FAMILY, AND THAT ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH HIM. I AM BLESSED. I HAVE A WONDERFUL FAMILY, A BEAUTIFUL WOMEN, A CHILD ON THE WAY, ALOT OF GREAT FRIENDSHIPS, AND I AM IN RECOVERY. I MAY NOT BE WHERE I WANNA BE, BUT I'M EXACTLY RIGHT WHERE GOD WANTS ME TO BE. I HAVE ALOT TO LEARN, AND I HAVE ALOT OF WORK YET TO COME. SOBRIETY IS IN MY WALK NOT MY TALK, AND THE LORD IS DEFENTLY WORKING THROUGH ME. MY FRIEND SAYS IT ALL THE TIME, YOU WANNA KNOW HOW I'M DOING? ASK MY MOTHER, SHE WILL TELL YOU. I RELY ON ONE THING TODAY, AND THAT IS MY LORD AND SAVIOUR "JESUS CHRIST" THE KING OF ALL KINGS. Check abstinencefirst's Instagram DAY 70: ONE DAY AT A TIME

I have 70 days of abstinence behind me. My memories of losing myself in the food are beginning to fade. Sometimes it's even hard to believe I spent 15+ years abusing myself with sugar. My urges are less frequent, but they still linger around. I continue to pray to God daily, for the strength to make it through each day abstinent. Days of wanting to just throw away my sobriety come, but the best part is that those thoughts and feelings always pass.

I continue to choose abstinence no matter the challenges that come my way in life. I know all to well that using food leads me to a completely unmanageable life - a foggy brain, an angry and depressed mood, energy highs and lows, physical illness and a super sick soul. Saying no to the temptations of addiction allows me to be free, it allows me to LIVE. Thank you God for 70 days.

If you are new to my account, please join me on my recovery journey. I will be sharing daily posts for my first 100 days of abstinence from my addictive substance - sugar. Your support is greatly appreciated. 1651126280651098078_5753677813

Check robsinrecovery's Instagram Well, it appears that I have my work cut out for me. My sponsor wants me to do my stepwork the NA way. I’ve started Step 1 and it is much more in depth. This is going to take a while. I’m not advocating for any recovery program over another. I’ve done my AA 12 Steps and feel the need to revisit them. Whether you’re in a 12 Step program, a SMART program or whatever else you are doing to stay clean & sober, GOOD! At the end of the day, if you haven’t had a drink or used, you’ve healed more, you’ve helped others, you were a happier more loving person; then keep doing that. Twelve Steps works for me but there is a hell of a lot more that I do to recover than stepwork. I’m finding a new way to live.

Check chronicsobriety's Instagram Through some mysterious combination of Divine Grace and human willingness, we are given a moment of clarity, a glimpse of our reality, an opportunity to choose life over death.
-
In this rare moment, it seems as though time stands still and we become acutely aware of our plight. We are not afraid. In fact, we experience an unfamiliar calmness in the midst of all the chaos.
-
Suddenly, the chatter of a thousand voices stops and the silence gets our attention. In fact, it’s almost deafening.
-
In an instant, we are presented with a mirror, and are able to see ourselves as we really are... wounded, broken, and quite literally dying on the installment plan.
-
But this time we don’t run away. We become aware of our heart’s desire for change, and we are given the most wonderful experience of choice... in spite of our powerlessness. A sort of temporary freedom from the oppressive wrath of addiction.
-
This is a precious moment. A gift we didn’t have to ask for - it is simply given to us. This is Grace.
-
But what comes first? Willingness or Grace. The truth is, nobody really knows. The answer is beyond human knowledge. It is truly a mystery.
-
That’s why recovery from addiction is so illusive and unpredictable. For many of us, it’s more than overcoming a brain disease, or a physical dependence on chemicals, or a mental illness. It goes beyond reason, science and the psychology of it all. There is a spiritual component, and recovery often requires access to this mysterious combination of willingness and Grace.
-
Over the years, I’ve been privileged to work with many people who suffer from addiction. Some have achieved long term sobriety. But I am clear that I’m only a guide - someone who simply lights up the path to recovery. They must take the steps, and I am humbled by my powerlessness to effect their actions. So I pray that they be given this gift. I know that without it, I would not be sober today.
