A planned $20 million redevelopment of Selden Corridor in Midtown will include a bar arcade, brewing school, meat-centric restaurant, eco-homes and public outdoor workspace for entrepreneurs.
 Midtown Detroit Inc. announced Wednesday the updated plans for the mixed-use #projects, known as the Selden Corridor Initiative, on Selden Street between Second Avenue and Fourth Street.

The community development agency started the initiative earlier this year and development is expected to be complete by late fall next year.
 "Once complete, this will be a place for all people — #entrepreneurs, women, people of color — to build skills," Marcia Ventura, senior VP of Invest Detroit, said of the #developing tech corridor during a media event.

The project is being rolled out as a catalyst for future development in the neighborhood as it taps into momentum of projects that have sprouted up before it, like Selden Green Alley, Selden Standard and The Selden condominiums. ‬ -------------------------------------------------

The Carr Center is temporarily moving in to a high-profile location in downtown Detroit that's owned by #DanGilbert ‘s #Bedrock LLC.

The building at 1505 Woodward Ave. at Clifford is across from the John Varvatos store and recently hosted the "Still Searching" exhibition of Detroit artist Charles McGee who painted the "Unity" mural on the exterior of the 28 Grand Building in Detroit's Capitol Park.
 "Our agreement with them is they're welcome to remain in the space indefinitely until a permanent #tenant signs on for that space," said Gabrielle Poshadlo, senior #communications manager at Bedrock. “While this current arrangement is temporary, we’ve already begun discussions with (Carr Center President Oliver Ragsdale Jr.) regarding a more permanent solution to keep his organization downtown.” 
Bedrock is renting 4,600 square feet on the first floor of the building to the Carr Center at cost. Poshadlo did not provide the per-square-foot rate to cover pass-through costs for things like #security and #maintenance. -------------------------------------------------

The Fisher Building, a work of art in its own right, will soon house new creative energy.
The Platform LLC is converting the fourth floor of the Fisher Building into space for local creatives and arts groups offered at subsidized rates for the first three years.
 The historic building "has this incredible history around being the largest art object in Detroit," said Abir Ali, director of #design and #culture, The Platform, one of the companies redeveloping the Fisher Building. "We wanted to pay homage to that history." Work began in November on a $100 million effort to restore the Fisher Building and redevelop the nearby Albert Kahn Building, each owned by Detroit-based The Platform, along with New York City-based HFZ Capital Partners and New York City-based Rheal Capital Management.
 Creatives whose work is conducive with locating at the Fisher Building will be welcomed, from those in the fine arts of drawing, #painting and sculpture to the literary arts, design, crafts, information and advocacy to performance groups in dance or even #yoga practitioners.
