Check oilswithmindi's Instagram There have been a lot of questions during this last week about @doterra's sourcing practices. Please read this post by Emily Wright, founding executive of dōTERRA. It's long, but worth it! (These photos are just screen shots of the video she posted. To watch the whole video please go to Emily Wright's Facebook page. • • •
We have received many questions this week about our sourcing practices, and we welcome such inquiries. doTERRA's Co-Impact Sourcing model is at the heart of who we are and ensures mutually beneficial supplier partnerships while creating sustainability in the communities and in the specific plants, wood and timber products that are harvested. Our strategic sourcing also allows doTERRA to offer the highest quality essential oils on the planet!
doTERRA works in strict compliance with CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). CITES provides the international agreement between governments to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. doTERRA voluntarily, systematically, and enthusiastically complies with CITES recommendations and restrictions.
The questions that have come in this week were specifically about our spikenard and rosewood sourcing. doTERRA's Spikenard oil is legally sourced from Nepal with regulatory oversight by the Nepal Government Department of Forests (dof.gov.np) to ensure CITES compliance. All doTERRA Spikenard oil is sourced from distillers and partners who are required to provide CITES certification and permits for regulated oil production and legal exportation. More details about doTERRA Spikenard oil sourcing are in the attached video.
Many years ago one of our most popular blends included rosewood. We voluntarily chose to halt all production of rosewood oil as soon as it was listed as an endangered flora, and immediately removed rosewood (and replaced it with Ho Wood) from the doTERRA Balance blend. We have not sourced or used rosewood oil since that time. We will never compromise the sustainability of nature for profit.
I hope this answers any questions that have been asked. Have a wonderful weekend! 1611742179213126063_3034894221
