Check monopolycrossriver's Instagram The history of slave trade in West Africa between the 15th and 18th centuries will not be complete without the mention of Calabar as about 40 per cent of the slaves exported from Nigeria went through the Calabar port.
__
The Slave History Museum is located beside the Calabar River, it enforces the remembrance of slaves brought from the hinterland and moved through the Calabar River to the high seas, prompting the development of the Slave History Museum.
 __
Some of the artifact exhibited at the museum are leg and neck shackles used on slaves, cowries used as medium of exchange for slaves, ceramic jars used as slaves urine pits, bells earned from slave purchase, swords used as medium of exchange for slaves, Dane guns earned from slave supply, manilas used for the purchase of slaves, Nok Head from Rafin Kura 900BC-200AD.
__
Today being the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave trade and its Abolition, is a day dedicated to the remembrance of the slave trade that is long gone but the effects linger. Mementos of that painful era are littered all over the world.
On this day, we should remember all the struggles and sacrifices that was made by our people during this time.
__
Sadly slavery is still very present. The huge global migrations are producing a ready supply of vulnerable victims. We must all be involved in eradicating this scourge.

Check anoushehusain's Instagram #wednesdaywisdom - it says it all really. I've accepted that I have #ehlersdanlossyndrome and #potssyndrome tendendencies but it took a while for me to acknowledge, let the news sink in and ten finally accept that I was going to be living a new normal. Gone are the days where I can hope that I will never flare. Gone are the days when something cracks out if place, I run to the doctor. In came the books, the reading, the research, the learning, the joining forums, the looking for peer support, the testing different things on myself to see what would help. I think Cancer was a completely different experience, there was a set day I had my diagnosis, there were multiple surgeries and other treatments. There was a point in time I could say, ok, life has changed. I've had EDS all my life but with all the other medical drama (cancer) I had, the bigger symptoms were masked. There was no big moment where I went "Aha!" And that's been by far the toughest thing to process. I'm ok with my new normal now, irritating and painful as it might be. I've learnt to no longer blame my body for the things that happen but it's definitely been one exhausting and scary journey to get to this point. Check bestmangamesltd's Instagram The Elmina Castle was erected by the Portuguese in 1482 as Sao Jorge da Mina (St George of the Mine) Castle, also known simply as Mina (or feitoria da Mina) in present –day Elmina, Ghana (formerly the Gold coast).
__
It was first established as a trade settlement, the castle later became one of the most stops on the route of the Atlantic slave trade. The Dutch seized the fort from the Portuguese in 1637, and took over all the Portuguese Gold Coast in 1642. The slave trade continued under the Dutch until 1814.
__
Today being the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave trade and its Abolition, should be all about remembering the tragic history of slavery which is an important testimony that should be related to us as human beings and that the painful episode of slavery should teach us a lesson and be preserved and built on in our everyday life.

Check han_elizabeth_'s Instagram Can I just say that life causes a ridiculous amount of pain, for me and for everyone else on the planet. Every day my heart breaks for the pain I feel for another on the end of the phone, or for the friend with scars that indicate their pain, or the myriad of other ways people cope. Everybody hurts, and everybody deals with it differently, and sometimes I just get angry because I hate seeing/hearing my friends in pain, it breaks my heart! I just hope that with my life I can bring beauty where others brought pain. I'm going to fight hard to add more beauty to this world. Pain does not have to be the final ending. 1587594846535921240_253040141

Check monopolylagos's Instagram The Badagry Slave Route also known as the point of no return, is an important tourist destination in West Africa.
__
This slave route was the final embarkation port in the heinous trans-Alantic slave route in the 16th and early 19th century slave coast where African slaves from Nigeria were shipped to unknown destinations in Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean.
__
The point of No return signified a sense of finality for the slaves at the time: that the slave would never come back home.
__
Today being the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition, is dedicated to the over 15 million men, women and children who were victims of the over 400 years of tragic transatlantic slave trade which is described as one of the darkest chapters in human history.
Their struggle and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Check jaclar1's Instagram I'm really not surprised after the weekend! Well it was my birthday weekend and I didn't even think about what I was eating or drinking, resulting in a 4lb weight gain!
I gain weight easier than the average person anyway, I've just got to walk past the sweet isle in the super market and gain 10lbs .... I'm still at a loss and haven't put all the weight I lost back on so time to get re focused and get back on it! #weightlossjourney #weightloss #weightgain #healthyfood #birthdayweekend #notfocused #diet #dietplan #weightlosswednesday #weighinwednesday #struggle #lifestyle #healthyeating #health #notsogood #refocus 1587588306282379973_404334958
