A rough beatboard (or as much as fits in Instagram) I did to act as a personal guideline/map for a 'genga' / animation composed of keyframes, I wanna do to show folks in Japan/Korea. I plan on doing 2 genga pieces, one displaying what a fight will look like in the 2018 anime (Iconoclast vs Asem) and one displaying what intimacy looks like (Petra x Asem). Below are some notes on how I think these two characters would move in a fight.
Iconoclast: experienced and conservative in her movements, her tremendous physical strength means she can and often must conserve energy. Against an opponent like Sem who is in effect 'superhuman', she is even more conservative, definitive, concentrated blows, airstreams and static charges to deal definitive damage. Because of the conditions in the 'sky deserts' which the Heiaha people call home; when she cuts loose, gravity, air pressure mean almost nothing to her. (A way to think about her is a "non-supernatural #superman", evolution/conditioning rather than powers). Asem: Fundamentally, Sem is insecure and overcompensates. She knows the extent of her amazing and somewhat terrible power, but after her traumatizing loss to the Great Secret Keeper, Sem is terrified of losing again. This has given her a semi-cruel streak in her advances and attacks. Whereas Icon conserves in a fight, Sem pushes forward relentlessly. She learnt to use her abilities from the unknowable pioneers; Astronomos and Harsha, but fundamentally she lacks true style and technique. For all intents and purposes, she is a brute when she fights, learning that when lives are at stake, including her own, there's nothing "pretty" or "heroic" about fighting. (Think #deadpoolwithout a sense of humour and no guns - or rather #UltraInstinctGoku)
