DAY 2 of (I feel a little silly writing that), but super happy I joined this yoga challenge because I had some serious motivation to do yoga after a long day at work. Tomorrow is a 24 hour shift in the peds ICU - day 7/7. It’s been a tough week....some weeks you can handle the pain and loss, and others it just seems more difficult. And this week it’s hard. I don’t know why...but it doesn’t matter why. What matters is I can feel the feelings and share. That is something I had no ability to do before I found yoga three years ago. I felt like I was loosing myself in my first year of peds critical care fellowship...one child would die, and I wouldn’t have a minute to process before going on to try to save the next. I bottled everything up and pretended like everything was fine. And then I found yoga, or yoga found me. And it gave me the ability to sit still again. It gave me the ability to start to feel again. And it gave me the ability to cope. For that, I am thankful. One of my favorite sayings about yoga is that we start right where we left off in our last life. This makes sense to me, because even in the beginning when I had no flexibility, no knowledge of yoga, and no physical ability to do many poses - it felt like I was home when I practiced...and that feeling hasn’t left me three years later. . . . . 4growth
